Singapore's Consumers' Take on Plywood
By Reid Lim of MeiSin-Furniture.com
Singapore's Consumers' Take on Plywood Plywood is an engineered wood made by stacking different layers of assorted wood on top of another. These wood are oriented in different directions and a resin is used to glue them together. For industrialized nations, Plywood is often the wood of choice. Why? Because it is affordable. Because it is the industrial standard. It is like nuts and bolts to carpentry. Everybody uses plywood. Especially Singaporeans. Plywood has a smooth external finish, that means, people can actually apply glue on top of the finish and layer a piece of veneer (a skin of natural wood) or laminate (a skin of manufactured exterior. Which means, plywood is beautiful! Plywood layered furniture are what interior designers love. All these said, Hardwood though is still known for its exotica.
